Cheat Sheet On Minecraft Villagers Won’t Breed (Explained!)

Minecraft Villagers Won't Breed

Minecraft is all about creativity. You will build a completely different world, and you can dominate it however you want! Isn’t that cool?

I’ve been playing Minecraft myself for years now. And I have seen so many newbies struggle with things like Why My Minecraft Villagers Won’t breed? Can You breed rabbits in Minecraft?

To breed the villagers, you need some things to keep in mind. Give them enough food, shelter, bed, and privacy (obviously!). Apart from all these, they now also need “willingness” after the new update to breed.

Read the full article to learn more about how you can fix the problem of villagers not breeding, what you can do, the easy ways to follow to get them to breed, and more!

5 Reasons Why Minecraft Villagers Won’t Breed

Villagers are a big part of your Minecraft life. When you search for a Minecraft village and own it, you are officially in charge of it. But it’s not fun if you cannot generate more villagers in your village!

You cannot have too many villagers in your Minecraft village. The villagers assist you with tasks like farming, trading, etc. You can breed villagers in Minecraft quickly! If you can’t, check the following reasons!

  1. Check if they are given proper food
  2. Check if they have beds
  3. Check if they have privacy
  4. Check if they are on Mating Mode
  5. The ultimate “Willingness.”

If you can check all these, you will soon have baby villagers in your village.

#1 – Enough Food In The Villagers’ Inventory

Funny, but the exciting thing is that the villagers in your Minecraft village need proper food to get them to breed. Providing them with enough food is the way to make them happy and want to breed.

Just like in real life, we need proper and enough food to function, Minecraft world is the same! Minecraft is pretty realistic that way. If you give them plenty of food, they will reproduce.

How Much Food Do Villagers Need?

To breed, the amount of food the villagers need in Minecraft village is listed below:

●       3 bread

●       12 Potatoes

●       12 Carrots

●       12 Beetroots

How Can The Player Give Food To The Villagers?

The player can throw food by clicking “Q” on their keyboard or controller. The food will be added to the villager’s inventory when they walk over it. Provide them with plenty of food, or they might refuse to breed.

#2 – Check If They Have A Bed

It is probably the most important thing to take care of if they have a bed. Suppose you have 12 villagers in your village and one bed only. You can forget the idea of breeding then.

You need to provide at least one bed for every two villagers. That means you need six beds for 12 villagers in your Village. And of course, that has to be in separate houses. If not, separate rooms, each bed for one couple.

#3 – Check If They Have The Proper Privacy

Yes, I admit. This option sounds a little strange. I know you haven’t really thought of this. But this supposedly affects your villagers to breed.

The couple who have reproduced a baby before won’t breed again until & unless you move their baby into a different room.

To breed them, you must move the baby from the adult couple to a separate room. And keep doing it to get as many new baby villagers as you want.

#4 – Check If They Are In Mating Mode

This is one of the most important things to check. If your villagers are not in mating mode, they won’t breed. Always look for the signs to see when they are in mating mode.

If you are wondering what the signs of mating mode look like, don’t worry.

●       Villagers who are in mating mode will have a heart above their head.

●       At least two of the villagers will have hearts.

After you figure out who is in mating mode, You will have to put them together in a room with a bed and wait. You will then have a new villager in just about 20 minutes!

#5 – Have They got “Willingness”?

Like me, those who have played Minecraft for a long time may be confused by this option. I was shocked too!

The “willingness” is from a new update. Your villagers will have to have a willingness to breed. How can you solve it? Well, there’s nothing you could do about it.

If you have provided all of the options mentioned above, but they are not willing to breed, that means you cannot do anything about it. Just give them everything mentioned earlier and wait.
