Setting Up the Server:

  • Download the Minecraft Server Software:
    • Go to the official Minecraft website and download the latest server software (Minecraft Server .jar file).
  • Create a Dedicated Folder:
    • Create a new folder on your computer where you want to store your Minecraft server files. Place the downloaded .jar file in this folder.
  • Open a Command Prompt:
    • Navigate to the folder where you placed the .jar file. Open a command prompt (cmd) in this location by typing cmd in the file explorer’s address bar.
  • Run the Server:
    • In the command prompt, type java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui and press Enter. This command starts the server with 1GB of RAM allocated. You can increase the memory allocation by changing the 1024M values to something higher (e.g., 2048M for 2GB).
  • Accept the EULA:
    • The first time you run the server, it will generate some files and stop. Open the eula.txt file in a text editor, change eula=false to eula=true, and save the file.
  • Run the Server Again:
    • Re-run the command from step 4. The server will start and generate the world files.
